It is best to schedule an appointment for STI services.  While walk ins can sometimes be accommodated, most often individuals who walk in without an appointment will be scheduled and will need to return at a different time.

We highly encourage everyone to schedule an appointment.

Services are provided free of charge to anyone seeking STI/HIV testing. A fee for service may sometimes be charged depending on certain tests requested. The clinic staff will review this information with you prior to testing.

Testing is available to anyone regardless of where you live.

• Chlamydia
• Gonorrhea 
• Syphilis
• HIV
• *Trichomonas (We provide screening and treatment for females.  We are unable to test for Trichomonas in males but can provide treatment.)

SDHD is able to provide free treatment for the following STDs:

• Chlamydia
• Gonorrhea
• Syphilis
• Trichamonas

The STI/HIV clinic is located at Siouxland District Health Department by the Laboratory towards the back of the building. There are many signs to direct you to the Laboratory.

Unfortunately, our clinic is not able to complete STD exams for pregnant patients.  If you're pregnant and need STD services or treatment, please contact your healthcare provider.  

1. Follow signs to the laboratory and check in for your appointment by ringing the door bell next to the lab door to let us know that you're here.
2. Staff will take you to a private room to wait for the clinician.
3. The clinician will complete your registration information and will review your medical history. Tests will be determined by medical history.
4. The clinician will discuss your care and will offer an examination. During the examination, the clinician will explain everything that is being done and why.
   • For males: Chlamydia and gonorrhea are tested through a urine sample.
   • For females: A pelvic exam is normally performed with chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas, yeast, and bacterial vaginosis all test via vaginal swabs.  Urine samples may be collected is some circumstances.  If pregnancy is possible, we will do a pregnancy test with a urine sample.
   • Blood is drawn to test for Syphilis for both males and females.
5. Based on your discussion with the clinician and your examination, your clinician may decide to treat you at your visit before your results come back. Some patients may need to be treated after test results are back.
6. The clinic will contact all clients with their results. If a result is positive, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled if the client hasn’t already received correct treatment.
